Coalition Against Police Brutality

The Coalition Against Police Brutality (CAPB) was initially founded in 1995, a year that saw the murders of Yong Xin Huang, Anibal Carasquillo, Anthony Baez, Answon Watson, and Nicholas Hayward Jr. at the hands of the police. The goal of CAPB is to mobilize grassroots organizations, students, and community members in a movement to stop the ever-growing police state in New York City. CAPB includes: Audre Lorde Project, CAAAV, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, Justice Committee of the National Congress for Puerto Rican Rights, and Sista II Sista.
