Description: Founded in 1986 as the Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence, CAAAV Organizing Asian Communities has a rich history of advocacy and organizing in New York City’s Asian immigrant and refugee communities. CAAAV’s archive digitization project documents over 25 years of justice struggles in New York City, including organizing around issues of police brutality, workers’ rights, housing and gentrification, and access to social services. This project aims to make the stories of these struggles accessible to organizers, researchers, and community members to reconstruct a history of resistance in New York City’s Asian American communities.
