CAAAV Awarded Community Land Trusts Learning Exchange for Community Controlled Development

Tenants Demand to Landlord R.A. Cohen, "We Have a Right to Safe Homes"

CAAAV is proud to receive an award to join the Community Land Trust (CLT) Learning Exchange that will provide technical assistance towards forming a Community Land Trust in Chinatown.

To ensure low-income Asian immigrant communities have homes, we need to support housing development models that emphasize community control, not unchecked private housing development that prioritize profits over people.

“A CLT is a not-for-profit organization formed to own land and to maintain control and oversight of houses or rental buildings located on the land. The CLT sells the buildings to qualified buyers but retains ownership of the land to preserve the long term affordability of its housing resources.”
